The Little George is our favourite place to stay. The room is so perfectly comfortable it is a home from home. Excellent bed for a superb nights sleep. Crisp linen, really good pillows. The lighting is just right and the room has windows that open! The staff are welcoming, efficient and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The cafe/restaurant/ bar area is atmospheric and delightful. The food is delicious, not least the breakfast. A tip top experience on all counts. We look forward to our next stay.
Fantastic place to stay. A warm welcome from the cheerful and professional staff, very comfortable, spacious and tastefully decorated room. Although I didn't use the mini bar, the prices were very reasonable. Good breakfast. There is also a good-sized car park, free for customers, which seems to be something of a bonus in Eccleshall. This was a one-night visit for business, but I would absolutely return just for the pleasure of staying at the Little George.
The Little George is a fine old pub situated right at the crossroads with High Street and Castle Street at the centre of the delightful town of Eccleshall. The High Street, with its fine old buildings, and in full bloom in July, is delightful. My room, on the first floor, overlooked Castle Street at the front and the pub's car park at the rear. Traffic noise from the busy crossroads was not disturbing and the room's electric fan provided essential cooling, having the sash window overlooking the street closed for the night. The handsome, large room and ensuite, with comfortable double bed seemed appropriately named, Clooney. I didn't see if the other rooms were similarly named after George. The ancient building may have been the reason for the creaking floorboards above Clooney. I imagined the guest's nocturnal perambulations could end with them crashing through the ceiling and landing on my bed. I am sure a female guest would have been disappointed finding me next to them and not George. They would have admired the room though. The room is spacious and well-furnished. There's a large TV and sound bar and the small refrigerator has a well-stocked mini bar with fresh milk. There's an open wardrobe where the hairdryer also hangs but there are no drawers in the room to unpack your suitcase. The ensuite is nicely appointed and they could have dusted off in the walk-in shower. I met the friendly staff behind the busy bar briefly while checking in and checking out. I declined their breakfast and chose instead to buy croissants from an excellent bakery and cafe across the road in High Street. I had dined well, al fresco, the previous evening at Olive Italian, opposite the bakery. The Little George's kitchen is only open for breakfast and lunch but there are many good places in the town for evening dining.
A fabulous, modern place in the heart of Eccleshall. I personally do my business work here during the day with my laptop frequently during the week having breakfast and or lunch, catch up with friends and then also enjoy a good beer in the evening.
Stayed for a family get together, absolutely cracking place ! The welcome was very friendly, shown to our room, everything explained. Lovely room, great bar/dining area and a really well designed and thoughtout use of space, outside area was very pleasant also. Great bar selection, breakfast and coffee also very nice. You get a really positive nice vibe, and it is clear that the customer is made to feel really welcome.
A lovely welcoming place to stay in a picturesque village. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Room was perfect. Bed very comfortable. We would stay again in a heartbeat.
This is a lovely place to stay with very friendly and helpful staff. The range of beers is small but good quality, the rooms are roomy and comfortable, and the breakfast was REALLY good, freshly cooked and tasty. It was a last minute decision to stop here as we had to make our way back from Lancaster after an unplanned stop for one of our party at the hospital! We were made to feel very welcome. On the basis of our experience I have offered to pay for our eldest son to stay here with his wife to experience the atmosphere (and also to use the local italian restaurant that was of similar quality!)
Sort of a cafe bar feels which was reasonable decorated. Staff were friendly and polite. A few real ales available and reasonably priced. Wooden floors throughout. Enjoyed my visit.
